Am I overweight ?
Being overweight is caused by an
excessive amount of fatty (adipose) tissue. Using your weight and length, you can actually
calculate if you are overweight.
This calculation is called
Body Mass Index (BMI, also called Quetelet Index) and indicates if you are overweight, obese, underweight or normal.
Some remarks:
- The Body Mass Index does not apply to athletes; their weight is relatively high because of all the muscle tissue. Athletes train up to 10 hours a week or more
- The Body Mass Index does not apply to kids and teenagers, because their bodies are not yet full-grown. Indications about their normal weight can be found here
Overweight ?
If you are overweight, you can decide to lose some weight. It is likely to improve your health and will probably make you feel better as well. Of course, you don't have to.

Normal weight ?
If you're not overweight, this doesn't mean you can eat anything you like. Eating too much is never healthy and there's always a chance of becoming overweight sooner or later. So it's important to always watch your weight and try to maintain it. HappyDiets.com explains how this is can best done (see
healthy food).
Underweight ?
If you're underweight, you probably don't eat enough. You should try to
increase your weight, by eating a bit more. However, don't stuff yourself with snacks and candy. Eating
healthy food is important for everyone.
